New treatments allow the immune system to destroy "foreign" tumor cells. If we imagine a "fake flag" and "binoculars", some treatments will cover the flag (of the tumor cell), while others mask the binocular equivalent of the tumor cell. In this way, the treatments keep the immune cells in 'working' mode, so they fight cancer.
