The Association of Patients with Oncological Diseases and Friends (APOZ) in partnership with “Specialized Hospitals for Rehabilitation - National Complex” EAD presents the Victoria Program. It is a modern model for medical, social and psychological rehabilitation, created specifically for women, undergoing surgical treatment of breast cancer.
The program is implemented with the participation of specialists in physical medicine, clinical psychologists and oncologists, that offer complete care and support for patients. Its main purpose is to restore motor activity, prevention of lymphatic stagnation and support for the social and emotional adaptation of women after treatment.
What the program offers?
The Victoria program lasts ten days and is held in the rehabilitation bases of the National Complex in Bankya, Banya and Hisarya. Within this period the participants receive:
- Medical rehabilitation, involving the restoration of the motor activity of the affected arm, prevention of lymphatic stagnation and improvement of general physical condition.
- Social and psychological rehabilitation, which includes group and individual psychotherapy, outdoor and art therapy activities through drawing and applied arts.
Who can participate?
The program can include women, undergoing surgical treatment of breast cancer, who have completed their active therapy and are on adjuvant treatment. They must be the least 45 days after surgery and have a healed operative wound. The possibility of participation is provided 10 days after the last chemotherapy and 20 days after the last radiation therapy.
The program is intended for patients with tumors in stage 1 (T1-T2) with or without lymphatic dissection (L0-L1) and without distant metastases (M0).
Schedule of the program for 2025 r.
The program will be held in three rehabilitation bases - Bankya, Bathroom (Karlovsko) and Hisarya. Each group starts on certain dates, As for each base there is a minimum number of patients enrolled:
- SBR - Bankya Branch: March to December, With dates of admission every month.
- SBR - Banya Branch (Karlovsko): April to December, with three groups per month.
- SBR - Hissarya Branch: April to December, with three groups per month.

Financing and enrollment
Program costs are covered by the state budget, but patients pay extra for the ten-day stay. For 2025 r. The amount of participation is 400 BGN, By paying for insurance in the amount of 20 BGN.
