The Association of Cancer Patients noted 4 February - World Cancer Day. Throughout the day, Mrs. Evgenia Alexandrova, Chairman of APOZ, met with patients at the Medical Oncology Clinic in Acibadem City Clinic Oncology Center. With the support of the pharmaceutical company Service, each patient received a compliment from APOZ.

Every year on 4 February the world joins forces in an effort to save millions of lives by raising awareness of cancer. Each year, newly diagnosed cases exceed significantly 30 000, writes BGNES.

The role of the 4 main risk factors - the use of tobacco and tobacco products - has been proven, unhealthy eating, reduced physical activity and alcohol abuse. Tobacco use is the most important risk factor for cancer causing approx 20% of cancer deaths worldwide and approx 70% of lung cancer deaths worldwide.
In the European Union, cancer is the second leading cause of death after cardiovascular disease. Every year, two out of ten women and three out of ten men die from cancer, and of approx 3,2 million. Europeans are given this diagnosis. The statistics show, that the incidence of cancer in men and women continues to rise despite better prevention and treatment. With the increase in life expectancy and the age of the population, an increase in the number of cancer patients is expected.
